Installation Specifications and Applications of Angle Sensors

Release Date:2026-10-20 Click:12

Angle sensors are widely used in construction machinery, hydraulic equipment, valve automatic control, agricultural machinery, structural steel monitoring, and intelligent equipment automation.

I. Mechanical Installation Requirements

1. The sensor output shaft must be connected to the measured rotating shaft via an elastic coupling; rigid direct connection or forced alignment installation is strictly prohibited.

2. Coaxiality must be controlled within ≤0.2 mm. The sensor shaft must not bear radial forces or axial impact loads.

3. Secure the mounting flange by tightening bolts diagonally and evenly, and install anti-loosening washers to prevent drift caused by vibration-induced loosening.

4. The mechanical limit of the equipment must be less than the sensor's rated measurement angle, with a safety margin reserved to prevent collision damage.

5. For outdoor installations, side or angled mounting is preferred to avoid water accumulation at the cable entry point.

II. Electrical Wiring and Anti-Interference

1. Standard power supply: DC 24V.

2. Shielded cables must be grounded at only one end (at the control cabinet), while the sensor end should remain floating—double grounding must be avoided to prevent ground loop currents and data fluctuations.

3. Signal lines must be routed separately from power lines, frequency converter lines, and solenoid valve lines, maintaining a distance of ≥20 cm. Crossings must be perpendicular at 90 degrees.

III. Typical Application Scenarios

1. Construction Machinery

Angle detection for truck-mounted cranes and knuckle boom cranes, torque limiting, anti-overturning protection; boom and dipper stick angle feedback for excavators.

2. Hydraulic Automatic Control Systems

Closed-loop positioning control for hydraulic swing cylinders and rotary cylinders.

3. Fluid Automatic Control Valves

Feedback on butterfly valve and ball valve opening positions; DCS valve position monitoring in chemical processing and water treatment.

4. Agricultural Machinery

Three-point suspension angle acquisition for tractors; automatic tillage depth control systems.

5. Automation Equipment

Angle positioning and station detection for tilting tables, rotating fixtures, turntables, and workstations.

IV. General Prohibitions and Precautions

1. Rigid connections and eccentric installation are strictly prohibited for rotary shaft models—they are major causes of drift, data jumps, and sensor damage.

2. Tilt sensors must not be used in high-frequency, severe vibration environments. If vibration is excessive, switch to WOA rotary shaft models.

3. All model shielded cables must be grounded at only one end—this is critical for field stability.

4. Operation beyond full scale or mechanical limits is strictly prohibited.

5. Outdoor equipment must be properly protected against water, dust, and loosening to prevent signal anomalies due to ingress.

V. Common Faults and Solutions

1. Data jitter or instability

Causes: Double grounding, interference from power lines, eccentric installation, abnormal magnet gap

Solution: Change to single-ended grounding, separate wiring routes, correct coaxial alignment, adjust magnet block clearance

2. Angle drift or zero-point offset

Causes: Rigid connection, vibration-induced loosening, uneven mounting surface

Solution: Replace with elastic coupling, reinforce screws, reattach and recalibrate zero point

3. Data loss at endpoints or inaccurate range

Causes: Mechanical travel exceeding the sensor’s effective angular range

Solution: Replace with a higher-range sensor, reserve blind zone allowance

4. Severe tilt angle data fluctuation

Causes: Excessive vibration, filtering not enabled

Solution: Increase filter parameters or replace with a rotary shaft angle sensor
