Key Application Advantages
1. Non-contact measurement, ensuring long-term, durable, and uninterrupted operation
The left and right servo mechanisms of the equipment undergo continuous reciprocating torsional motion, requiring the entire unit to undergo hundreds of thousands or even millions of cycle endurance tests:
- The LVDT8 relies on the principle of electromagnetic induction via a differential transformer, measuring only the extension and compression of the probe spring. Its internal core has no brushes and no physical friction, eliminating the issues of long-term wear, zero-point drift, and signal glitches commonly found in conventional potentiometric electronic scales;
- The valve spool wear and steering play values before and after endurance testing can be reliably compared over the long term, ensuring complete traceability of test data.
2. Ultra-high precision, accurately detecting micrometer-level displacements in steering valves
The steering feel and power assist smoothness of the entire vehicle are determined by axial movement of the valve spool ranging from a few micrometers to several hundred micrometers:
- The LVDT8 offers a resolution of up to 0.1 μm, a minimum measurement range of 2.5 mm, and linear accuracy of ±0.1% FS;
- It can precisely measure the center-position return clearance of hydraulic spools and minute axial displacement during instantaneous hydraulic pressure-induced directional changes. Conventional dial indicators and rod-type electronic scales cannot achieve this level of precision and are unable to quantify subtle power steering lag issues;
- When integrated with the system, it can plot a complete three-dimensional characteristic curve of valve spool displacement versus oil pressure versus torque, meeting the precision R&D and calibration requirements of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
3. Two structural configurations, perfectly suited to the automation workflow of this equipment
- Spring-return LVDT8: Designed for semi-automatic workstations; after the workpiece is clamped, the probe automatically presses against the valve spool end face, allowing manual spot-checking of precision clearances;
- Pneumatic LVDT8Q: The equipment’s PLC controls the air supply; after the workpiece is clamped, the probe automatically extends for inspection and retracts automatically upon test completion, supporting fully automated batch cycle testing across the entire production line without manual intervention.
4. High resistance to harsh environments, suitable for test benches with hydraulic oil mist and vibration
- IP65 protection rating and an all-stainless-steel housing resist corrosion from hydraulic oil mist and oil residue during testing;
- The probe is made of silicon nitride wear-resistant ceramic, which withstands long-term, repeated pressure on valve core and rack end faces without deformation or indentation;
- Resists mechanical vibrations caused by high-power servo motor operation, ensuring measurement values remain stable without fluctuations.
5. Strong signal compatibility, capable of integrating with the complete Miran Sensing system
It can output 0–5 V, 0–10 V, 4–20 mA, and RS485 digital signals, enabling synchronized data collection with other sensors on the equipment.
