Miran electronic ruler is installed outside the cylinder and is used to measure the extension/retraction displacement of the cylinder piston rod in real time to achieve these functions. Closed-loop position control: allows the cylinder to accurately stop at the set position every time (such as the stroke positioning of presses and hydraulic equipment). Stroke monitoring and limit: to prevent over-travel damage of the cylinder. Equipment synchronization control: if it is a multi-cylinder equipment, it is used to ensure the synchronization of the extension of multiple cylinders to avoid uneven stress.
There are two mainstream applications of Miran electronic ruler on oil cylinders:
Installation method | Characteristic | Applicable scenarios |
| The electronic scale is mounted externally on the cylinder. The read head is linked to the piston rod, making installation simple and maintenance convenient. It is not afraid of cylinder modifications without built-in holes. | Retrofitting old equipment, on-site lack of built-in space, and the need for quick maintenance in operational conditions |
| The sensor is installed inside the cylinder through a reserved hole in the cylinder's tail end. The piston is equipped with a magnetic ring, which occupies no external space and offers stronger resistance to oil contamination and vibration. | Equipment such as injection molding machines, hydraulic presses, and shield tunneling machines that have pre-drilled installation holes for factory use |
Typical application cases in the industry
1. Hydraulic presses/presses use Miran’s external electronic ruler to monitor the stroke of the cylinder pressure head to achieve precise press installation and stamping depth control to ensure workpiece processing accuracy.
2. The shield machine/construction machinery propulsion cylinder uses a displacement sensor to monitor the propulsion displacement to achieve simultaneous propulsion of multiple cylinders to ensure a stable excavation attitude.
3. The injection molding machine's glue injection and clamping cylinders have built-in magnetostrictive sensors to achieve closed-loop position control and ensure the molding accuracy of injection molded parts.
4. The roll adjustment cylinder of metallurgical/steel rolling equipment uses an electronic ruler to monitor the displacement and control the roll gap to ensure steel rolling accuracy.
